TBH Tree Care was recently called to carry out sensitive and selective pruning on a mature mulberry tree in Downham Market, estimated to be over 220 years old. The aim was to reduce the lateral growth on a large, extending branch that was beginning to show signs of stress.
Our Approach
Given the age and historical value of the tree, a careful and minimal intervention approach was essential. We reduced the end weight of the heavy lateral limb to relieve structural stress and mitigate the risk of future failure. All cuts were made to appropriate growth points, preserving the tree’s natural form and vitality.
We also inspected the existing prop supporting the branch to ensure it remains effective in providing long-term stability. All arisings were cleared, with waste wood chipped and removed from site.
